There is a fabulous prize of a Pink Ink Design stamp set and also a stamp set from Phil Martin Sentimentally Yours - two sets in this prize!!
Because it’s traditionally the month of ‘amor’ and I have to make something special for the ‘other half’, I decided to show you what I made - it’s a little tag book of ‘love’ quotes.
First I prepared these half tags from Dina Wakley Media by painting them on both sides with Dina’s paints and sprays. I used Raspberry, Fuchsia and Carnation. And then a light ‘wash’ of Gilt spray on top.
I also painted some strips of bookbinding tape with the same colour paints minus the gilt spray. Once the tape was dry, I cut it in half lengthways and proceeded to tape together the tags, with the holes lined up on the right side. I finished with one tape strip going from the front to the back to cover the spine.
I then decorated the tags using Tim Holtz Sparkle stencil (I used Fuchsia but I think I’d picked up my Archival black blending foam so it’s a darker colour than intended 😂) and also used stamps from the Tim Holtz Love Notes Stampers Anonymous set. I used a brayer to brayer over Carnation onto a heart stamp. I randomly stamped some small hearts in black Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.
Using a white Posca pen I did some Scribbly writing on the tag pages.
Next to prepare my focal points.
I stamped out images in Versafine Clair Nocturne, from Tim Holtz Love Notes Stampers Anonymous set and Curiosity Shop onto white cartridge paper.
I kept these black and white purposely and then fussy cut them out.
On a small piece of watercolour card, I brayered some fuchsia and then hand cut out some little hearts.
I pulled out my Dina Wakley Typed Ledgers Set 1 and chose quotes that were ‘love’ related. I cut these out ready to use.
Then it was a matter of assembling all the elements onto the tag pages.
I knew I wanted the typewriter on the front, so that was already spoken for.
I built up each tag page, with a piece of Tim Holtz Collage paper, a stamped image and the quote. Sometimes I used my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to clip the image to the collage paper, and then glued these down.
I then added the small cut out hearts to the different pages.
And finally! All the pages were complete!!
I found a piece of fuchsia sari silk and used this to thread through all the tag holes and tied a nice large bow to close the book.
And here it is!! I hope you like it (I hope he does too 😂).
Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog and I hope you’ll be inspired to try this out for yourself and maybe enter into this month’s challenge over on Facebook.
Have a great day
Hugs
Carol x
