Wintery Scene - DT Project 2 for Country View Crafts and Challenges 2025

Hello all,

It's my second DT project for Country View Crafts and Challenges this month and the Wintry Scene theme has certainly hit the spot across the UK. It's been pretty cold and snow definitely has had a look in, in some places.

The challenge runs until the end of January and is open worldwide and you can join the group here:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/164920247712393

You must use products from brands that Country View Crafts stocks, and please mention them in your post.

You can enter 5 times each month with different projects and one winner will be selected randomly. There is a fabulous Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Tiny Text Stamp CMS394 set to be won by the lucky winner.

As I'm hoping to create more in my art journal this year, I've created a scene this time with Tim Holtz Idea-ology products. I'm also trying to be a bit more adventurous using collage and Tim's Idea-ology products are perfect for this.

So onto how I created my page....

First, I randomly dabbed Distress Inks, Speckled Egg, Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean, in that order, on my page, waiting for each one to dry before adding the next.

Then for the fun part - I dug out my Idea-ology packs and Sticker Books and sorted through which ones I was going to use. I decided to go with a Pocket Card as my main background - these are great as they're already printed collage which have the depth and interest ready for you to create with.

From there, I found my focal point in the Idea-ology Paper Dolls Christmas Noel pack - the little girl all wrapped up winter, with her little dog.

I continued to look through my ephemera and packs, and pulled out a collage strip (Tim Holtz Idea-ology - Collage Strips Large TH94367), a pointing hand, (Tim Holtz Idea-ology Ephemera Pack 2023) the cellotape stickers, (Tim Holtz Idea-ology - Cello Sticker Tape TH94386) a label sticker, (Tim Holtz Idea-ology Classic Label Stickers TH93959) - which I wrote a random number on, a postage stamp from the (Tim Holtz Idea-ology Sticker Book Postmarked TH94387) and a sticker sentiment 'Let it Snow' (Tim Holtz Idea-ology Label Stickers Christmas).

I found a book page and tore around the edges and laid it on my page, then proceeded to assemble the different bits of Idea-ology I'd picked out for my project.

Finally I added the sentiment and some Sizzix Thinlits Scribbly Snowflakes 665582 with Stickles to finish.

I really enjoyed making this and hope you'll be inspired to dig out your stash, have a play and maybe join in our Challenge on Facebook.

Thanks for looking,

Hugs

Wintery Scene - DT Project 1 for Country View Crafts and Challenges 2025

Happy New Year Everybody,

Here I am with my first DT Project of the year, to share with you, that I’ve made for Country View Crafts and Challenges on Facebook.

The challenge theme is ‘Wintry Scene’ and runs until the end of the month.

The challenge is open worldwide and you can join the group here:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/164920247712393

You  must use products from brands that Country View Crafts stocks, and please mention them in your post.

You can enter 5 times each month with different projects and one winner will be selected randomly.

There is a fabulous prize as usual for the lucky winner for this month.

This year, I want to do more scenes in my art journal, so I’m starting with this one for January.

These two cute penguins from #941 Cold Hands set by Janet Klein AALL and Create seemed perfect to sum up winter, especially as they’re having a snowball fight.

First I masked off the area in the journal to leave a white border when finished.

Then I created the background using Distress Inks Speckled Egg and Tumbled Glass. I splattered some water on this and dabbed dry. I inked up the word BRRR from the Cold Hands set with Speckled Egg Archival and loosely and randomly stamped over the ‘sky’.  I stencilled the sparkle stencil from Tim Holtz Mini Layering Stencil Set MTHS062 with Distress Oxide Lost Shadow.

I also felt it needed something else, so in white Posca I wrote some asemic writing just above the snow. You can hardly see it but I know it’s there :-)

I only covered the top half as I then added Tim Holtz Distress Grit Paste Snowfall to the bottom to give the icy look.

Next I stamped the penguins and the ‘snow hut’ in black Archival ink. I used the Kenyan Hut #693 from Janet Klein AALL and Create for this and coloured all of  the stamped images using Tim Holtz’s Watercolor pencils.

I fussy cut these out, and placed in position on my background scene and added some Distress Grit Paste Snowfall to the 'hut'.

I added some Glossy Accents to the penguins' eyes and to finish, I added some ‘snowballs’ cut in half, from my stash.

And here’s my first Wintry Scene for 2025. In fact it’s my first make for 2025!!

I hope you like it and will be inspired to join in our challenge.

Thanks for stopping by

Hugs

'Christmas' - December DT Project 2 for Country View Crafts

Well, the big day is approaching and I’ve got another Christmas card to share with you that I’ve made for my second DT Project for Country View Crafts and Challenges on Facebook. The challenge runs until the end of the month so you still have plenty of time to get your entry in. The challenge is open worldwide and you can join the group here:

You  must use products from brands that Country View Crafts stocks, and please mention them in your post. You can enter 5 times each month with different projects and one winner will be selected randomly. The prize for this month's challenge is a workshop in the new year with one of our Design Team - Zoe Hillman. Very exciting.

So, my Christmas Card is for my Partner and I’ve created a Christmas snowy woodlands scene.

Using a piece of watercolour card, I made an inky background using Distress Speckled Egg and Tumbled Glass inks, Distress Spritz Tumbled Glass and splattered with white acrylic paint.

Once dry, I added texture with Distress Paste Sparkle using the Tim Holtz Speckles  Stencil, and dabbed some along the bottom of the card too.

Using a brush with these watered down on my craft mat, I added a little Distress Ink Mulled Lavender and Distress Oxide Spray Wilted Violet to bring a bit of contrast to the background.

I die cut my main elements out in white card using the Tim Holtz Dies Thin Ice and Vault Festive Wreath.

I smooshed the trees and foliage in Bundled Sage and the tree trunks in Frayed Burlap and Gathered Twigs. (I realised after I put the elements together on the trees that the trunks should have gone on last, on top of the snow, but hey ho, oh well oops!)

I die cut two Tim Holotz Sizzix Darling Deer 664968 on beige card and then also smooshed in Frayed Burlap and Gathered Twigs. I painted the antlers with white acrylic which got a bit coloured by the die ink underneath which is what I wanted as I didn’t want them pure white.

Once all the focal elements were ready, I placed them where I wanted them to be on the background and glued these down.
I stamped out the sentiment from Tim Holtz Crazy Talk CMS236 on book paper and added this to the main card.
I layered this onto silver mirror card, which I then layered onto my base card using doubled sided foam to raise it up.

And here’s the finished result. My Partner thought it was lovely and I hope you do too. Maybe you’ll give this a go yourself.

And don’t forget there’s still time to enter the Challenge.
Thank you for looking at my blog.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Carol x

'Christmas' - December DT Project 1 for Country View Crafts

Happy December!!!

Ho, Ho, Ho. The countdown is on!! Are you ready?
I’m not but I’ve only had all year to prepare for it - haha.

Here I am with my first Design Team make for the December Challenge 'Christmas' over on Facebook for Country View Crafts and Challenges.

For my first make for this month I wanted to create a Winter Wonderland Christmas Card as I’m in need of more cards.

To begin with, I stamped with black Memento Ink, this gorgeous cutie ‘Ginger’  from Janet Klein AALL And Create Ginger’s Gingerbread set. I coloured her with alcohol ink markers and then fussy cut her out.

With the set Vault Festive Wreath from Tim Holtz Sizzix, I cut out three of each, of my two chosen leaves on white card.

For the background I cut a 5x5 inch piece of white card and created an inky background using Distress Speckled Egg and Tumbled Glass. I then added some Tumbled Glass Distress Spritz and some white acrylic splatters.

Once dry, I stamped on the tree from AALL and Create Janet Klein #609, and the sentiment from Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Mr Frostie CMS499 in black ink. I coloured this with light alcohol ink markers as I didn’t want it to take over the card.

I also stamped a few of the small snowflake from Mr Frostie in Speckled Egg Archival Ink.

I then assembled and glued Ginger and the white leaves onto this. And then I distressed the edges and mounted it onto black card to form a border.

I prepared my base white card - measuring almost 6x6 inch and added some Speckled Egg Archival Ink small snowflakes around the edges, and then mounted the main layer onto this.

To finish, I used some Glossy Accents and Stickles to add some texture to the card.

And here’s my Winter Wonderland card. I hope you like it and may be inspired to create one too.

I hope that you'll want to join in the Country View Crafts and Challenges December 'Christmas' challenge on Facebook to win this month's fabulous prize.

Thank you for stopping by.
Merry Christmas.

Winged Things - November DT Project 2 for Country View Crafts

Hellooo,

I hope you’re all keeping well. I’ve been battling a cough and cold (tis the season!) but hopefully it’s about to ‘turn the corner’ now.

Here’s my second DT project for Country View Crafts for November, with the theme 'Winged Things'.
The prize for this month's challenge is an awesome set of 5 AALL and Create Washi Tapes.
You  must use products from brands that Country View Crafts stocks, and please mention them in your post.

You can enter 5 times each month with different projects and one winner will be selected randomly.
The challenge is open worldwide and you can join the group here:

I’m just loving Paperartsy Kate Crane’s new release and the Owl is so cute.
I’ve made just a simple, easy card this time for you, that you can ‘whip up’ when time is limited.

For the background I masked off a piece of white card and spritzed the contained area first with water, then with Squeezed Lemonade, Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass Distress Spray Stains. I dried this and then laid Kate’s circle and cross stencil on top and sprayed with the same colours again. Once almost dry, I lifted the stencil off and then let it dry completely.
When I started removing the masking tape, I noticed some of the colour had bled a little under the tape. Oops! Oh well! I simply cut this out to  layer up later on.

Next, I stamped the Owl and 2 sets of the leaves with Jet Black Archival Ink, and then coloured these with Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencils. I then fussy cut these out.

After that it was just a matter of layering everything up onto my base card.

To finish I added the sentiment ‘take flight’ that was stamped onto book paper and layered onto black card.

To complete the look, I added some Glossy Accents to the eyes and some Stickles to select areas on the Owl and leaves. I also drew a’faux stitch line’ on the white border.

I hope you like my card and will be inspired to join in the Challenge on Country View Crafts and Challenges.

Thank you for stopping by.
Have a great day
Hugs
