'Flower Power' DT Project 2 for CVC

Hello again,

We're flying through April and it's time for my second DT project for Country View Crafts and Challenges on Facebook, continuing with our theme this month 'Flower Power'.

You can find the challenge on here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/164920247712393

You'll need to join the group to be able to participate. The Challenges are open world wide as Country View Crafts do ship overseas too.
You’ve got until the end of the month to join in and can enter up to 5 times with different makes using products and brands that are stocked by Country View Crafts. There's a fabulous prize of a Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour Pencil Set 6 to be won.

In my Dina Wakley journal, I first gessoed the page to give the paper some 'tooth'.

Stenciling with Distress Paint Lost Shadow, I used the Visible Image stencil -  'Off the Grid' and a stamp (with black Archival Ink) from the Creative Chaos set to add a bit of depth to my background.

Then using the Visible Image stencil - 'Distressed Brick' and Tim Holtz Distress Crypt Grit Paste, I created a raised background pretty much in the centre of the page and let this dry.

I stamped out multiples of the main flower and smaller one from the Creative Chaos set, coloured with Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour Pencils, splattered with some gold paint, and then fussy cut around them. ( I ended up stamping a few more of the larger ones and didn't use the circle stamp in the end).

Once the texture paste was dry, I dabbed some Distress Inks onto my craft mat, spritzed with water and then transfered onto the page with a piece of cellophane cut up from my stamp set packaging. This way I had more control over where I placed the colours.

I assembled the flowers where I wanted them to go and stuck down, finishing with a sentiment from Tim Holtz Ideaology Smalltalk sticker book and added some glossy accents to the flowers for some extra texture.

I had fun putting this page together as I didn't have any clear idea what I was going to do with it, and am pleased with the end result. Hope you like it too and may try out some of the techniques I've applied here.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.
Have a great day.
Carol xx

'Flower Power' DT Project 1 for CVC

Helloooo,

And here we are in April already - where flowers are blossoming with the joys of Spring.

Our theme this month on Facebook for Country View Crafts and Challenges is 'Flower Power'.

There's a fabulous prize of the Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour Pencil Set 6 to be won.

So here's my first Design Team make for the theme this month.
I created a page in my journal with the lovely Visible Image Stamps - Flower Power, Beautiful Soul and The World Needs Art.
I also used, Dina Wakley gloss sprays and paint, Tim Holtz Stencils and AALL and Create Washi Tape. Phew!!

In my Dina Wakley journal, I poured some of the gloss sprays onto the page and moved around with the dropper. Then I splattered some of the Turquoise spray.
From there I continued to build my page with Dina Wakley Sapphire paint mixed with white acrylic paint. Using Tim Holtz Stencils I continued to build layers and finally after adding some black splatters, I added some AALL and Create Washi Tape.

For my main focal image - 'Beautiful Soul' I stamped her head with Versafine Clair Nocturne and then painted her face and hair with Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour Pencils.
I stamped her 'dress' from the Visible Image Flower Power stamp set and loosely dabbed the watercolour pencils mixed with water onto the image. I also stamped some of the individual flowers and watercolour painted these too.

I cut her out with her 'dress' and then cut out the individual flowers.
I used some silver pen to add highlights to these flowers.
Then I assembled all the elements, found where I wanted them to sit on the page and glued them down.

I added the quote from Visible Image stamp set The World Needs Art, 'Art Has No Rules' as I always like to have some text somewhere on the page.
I hope you like my journal page and will be inspired to give it a try yourself.
Thank you for stopping by,
Carol xx
