Hello again,
We're flying through April and it's time for my second DT project for Country View Crafts and Challenges on Facebook, continuing with our theme this month 'Flower Power'.
You can find the challenge on here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/164920247712393
In my Dina Wakley journal, I first gessoed the page to give the paper some 'tooth'.
Stenciling with Distress Paint Lost Shadow, I used the Visible Image stencil - 'Off the Grid' and a stamp (with black Archival Ink) from the Creative Chaos set to add a bit of depth to my background.
Then using the Visible Image stencil - 'Distressed Brick' and Tim Holtz Distress Crypt Grit Paste, I created a raised background pretty much in the centre of the page and let this dry.I stamped out multiples of the main flower and smaller one from the Creative Chaos set, coloured with Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour Pencils, splattered with some gold paint, and then fussy cut around them. ( I ended up stamping a few more of the larger ones and didn't use the circle stamp in the end).
Once the texture paste was dry, I dabbed some Distress Inks onto my craft mat, spritzed with water and then transfered onto the page with a piece of cellophane cut up from my stamp set packaging. This way I had more control over where I placed the colours.
I assembled the flowers where I wanted them to go and stuck down, finishing with a sentiment from Tim Holtz Ideaology Smalltalk sticker book and added some glossy accents to the flowers for some extra texture.
I had fun putting this page together as I didn't have any clear idea what I was going to do with it, and am pleased with the end result. Hope you like it too and may try out some of the techniques I've applied here.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.
Have a great day.
